Product Overview
A CT, which works on the basis of electromagnetic induction, is made up of a secondary winding (many turns, connected to protective or measuring devices) and a primary winding (few turns, connected in series with the high-current circuit). The secondary winding, which is usually standardized to 5A or 1A for most industrial uses, experiences a proportionately low current when high current passes through the primary winding. This proportionality, known as the transformation ratio, guarantees precise current measurement without subjecting personnel or equipment to hazardously high voltages.
High accuracy (essential for energy metering), strong linearity (to prevent measurement distortion), and insulation strength (to sustain high voltage between windings) are important features of CTs.
