CTY2 Series Current Transformer - Reliable Power Monitoring Equipment from China Suppliers & Factory

,

A current transformer (CT) is a vital electrical device that efficiently controls, monitors, and safeguards the power supply in various applications. In China, suppliers of current transformers provide essential solutions to measure extremely high alternating current (AC) safely and accurately. These transformers are designed to produce small, quantifiable outputs from massive AC currents, making them indispensable in power generation, transmission, distribution, and industrial sectors. Our factory specializes in manufacturing high-quality current transformers that meet international standards, ensuring reliability and precision in high-current power circuits.

    Product Overview

A CT employs electromagnetic induction and consists of two windings: a main winding with a few turns linked in series to a high-current circuit and a secondary winding with several turns connected to safety or measurement devices. The secondary winding, which is normally tuned to 5A or 1A for the bulk of industrial applications, receives very little current, whereas the main winding receives a lot.

This proportionality, also known as the transformation ratio, protects people and equipment from unsafe voltages while allowing for accurate current monitoring.

CTs require high precision for energy metering, linearity to minimize measurement error, and enough insulation to sustain a high voltage between windings.

    ⚠️

Important: When using a CT, the secondary winding should never be left open circuit. An open circuit has the potential to produce extremely high voltages that might damage electrical equipment.

Since they enable more precise current monitoring and problem diagnosis, current transformers are essential to the reliability, efficiency, and safety of modern electrical systems.

    Frequently Asked Questions
    Q
What is the primary function of a Current Transformer (CT)?
A current transformer (CT) is used to measure and monitor high-current circuits by stepping down the current to a safer, measurable level (typically 5A or 1A). It protects both measurement instruments and personnel from the dangers of high-voltage circuits while enabling accurate current monitoring.
    Q
Why should the secondary winding of a CT never be left open circuit?
Leaving the secondary winding open circuit is extremely dangerous. Without a closed circuit load, the CT can generate extremely high voltages across the secondary terminals, which may damage insulation, destroy connected equipment, and pose a serious safety hazard to personnel.
    Q
What accuracy grade do the CTY2 series current transformers support?
The CTY2 series current transformers support an Accuracy Grade of 1.0, which makes them suitable for energy metering and industrial measurement applications where high precision is required.
    Q
What is the overload current specification for the CTY2 series?
The CTY2 series current transformers are rated with an overload current of ≥1.2% ln, ensuring stable and reliable performance even under overload conditions typically encountered in industrial environments.
    Q
What current ratio options are available in the CTY2 series?
The CTY2 series offers multiple current ratio options to suit different application requirements, including 60A/5A, 250A/5A, 400A/5A, and 630A/5A, covering a wide range of industrial current monitoring needs.
    Q
How does the transformation ratio protect electrical equipment?
The transformation ratio of a CT ensures that only a proportionally reduced current flows through the secondary winding connected to measurement or safety devices. This prevents unsafe high voltages from reaching sensitive instruments, protecting both equipment and operators while still providing accurate current readings.
